Farmers in Cherangany Chebororwo & Sambirir Wards were all smiles tod
New sheep breed introduced in two Wards.
Atleast twelve farmer groups in Cherangany and Sambirir Wards benefited from 78 dorper sheep under the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Programme (KeLCOP).
The dorper sheep is known for its fast maturity, adaptability and superior meat quality.
Speaking during a distribution exercise in the two Wards, County Project Coordinator Mrs. Dorothy Bomet urged farmers to venture into profitable value chains.
“We have a strategy by our governor who wants every household to have atleast an income generating activity. Sheep production is still an untapped venture in our county. Let’s Commercialize sheep production because several farmers out their are earning big,” she said.
KeLCoP seeks to contribute to the government’s agricultural transformation agenda of increasing rural small-scale farmers’ income, and food and nutrition security focusing on dairy goat sheep, and poultry value chains.
