The Department comprises of namely: preventive and promotive health services; and curative and rehabilitative health services. The overall goal is the improved health status of all county residents.

To promote and participate in the provision of integrated and high quality promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services to all.

Mandates

1. Establish and manage County health facilities
2. Rehabilitation and maintenance of County health facilities
3. Establish County health pharmacies
4. Offer Ambulance services including emergency response and patient referral system;
5. Promotion of primary health care
6. Licensing and control of undertakings that sell food to the public including food safety and control;
7. Establish and maintain cemeteries, funeral parlours and crematoria.
