The County Climate change Unit under Financing Locally Led Climate Action(FLLoCA), today held public participation Gatherings in Kamariny, Kapchemutwa, soy North and Soy South Wards in prioritizisation of Climate Change Risk Investment Grant (CCRI-G) projects.
The program focuses on capitalizing the National and County Climate Change Funds; building county level capacity for planning, budgeting, reporting and implementation of local climate actions in partnership with communities.
The program guides identification of projects under Environment, water and agriculture and livestock sectors that will receive long term funding.
In Kamariny ward, the publics prioritized distribution of Avocado seedlings and protection of water catchment areas as key project for the financial year 2024-2025.
Solarization and extension of water pipes in Torok water project in kapkoi and Extension of piping in Yokot water project to cover Parts of Kipsoen Kamagut, Kapno and Muno Villages respectively.
Bee keeping and Sheep were among other projects identified.
In Soy North, Project prioritized per sector include:
Borehole drilling, Equipping and distribution, water harvesting, storage are some of the areas considered fit for funding.
Agro-forestry promotion of Mangoes, Avocados, coffee, pixies and woodlot establishment.
Protection and conservation of Torok waterfall and Rehabilitation and conservation of escarpment.
In Soy South, Procurement of Dam liners and distribution has been considered the best means of water storage. Morop-Chop Water project and Turesia Kowochii water project have been selected for funding.
Samisbei Catchment Conservation and Conservation of Kaptega Catchment area, Promotion of Clean Energy (Biogas) to PWDs are set for funding.
In agriculture sector,Promotion of coffee seeds and seedlings, distribution of mangoes and pixie and rearing of improved livestock breeds_Dopper,Saiwal,Freshian and Aryshire
The team will be implementing public engagement on Tuesday 17/12/2024 in Kaptarakwa, Chepkorio, kabiemit and metkei wards.
All public participation Gatherings are done at ward offices as from 10am.
