Residents benefit from medical camp

More than 1,000 residents in Embobut Embolot Ward benefitted from free medical camp organized by Hope Cidatel foundation in collaboration with County Government.

The one-day event took place at Marichor and Mungwo dispensaries where a team of specialized medical personel attended to the patients who thronged the facilities for the much-needed services.

Health Chief Officer Mary Kipchumba said the medical camp targeted far flung areas that are hardly accessible.

She said through the medical camp, they have also been able to identify cancer suspects and referred to Iten County Referral Hospital for further medical checkups.

“We have been able to screen more than 30 women for cancer who have been in dire need of the services and have advised them accordingly” she said.

On his part, Hope Citadel Foundation team leader Mathew Ameere noted that apart from providing medical care they have also provided spiritual nourishment to the residents.

He said; “We have had a team of both medical personel and evangelists who offered spiritual guidance to the patients.”

The team distributed both Swahili & English version Bibles to the residents who visited the medical camp.

Ameere also revealed that the team distributed foodstuff comprising rice, sugar, cooking oil & nutritional feed.The team also distributed sanitary pads to the women & girls.

Medical drugs worth more than Sh. 600,000 were delivered, drugs not utilized during the exercise will remain in the facilities.

Also present included a team from President’s Delivery Unit led by Senior Director Rift Valley Region Truphosa Awuor and Timothy Kilimo, Director delivery who applauded the County Government for its efforts in enhancing medical services in the County.

Marakwet East Sub County Health Management Team (CHMT) and staff from Marichor and Mungwo dispensaries also formed part of the exercise.
