A boost for extension services

The Kenya Climate smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP) Elgeyo Marakwet unit, flagged off nine (9) Motorcycles to ease extension services and data collection in six(6) implementing wards across the County.

Presiding over the event, the Chairperson Agriculture in the County Assembly Hon. Jonah Tanui Applauded the project, citing that farmer groups will now receive extension services Easily.

He noted dedication of staff and service providers that have shown since inception of the project commenting as it’s worth to be emulated.

“Am really humbled to be part of this noble course, this project has touched lives of many and improved productivity in all value chains supported by the project.

He further lamented that indeed the program has touched lives of many.

Joseph kiyeng CECm livestock, asked the farmer groups to embrace project ownership for sustainability even as the program is about to end.

He added that Elgeyo Marakwet County is privileged to have attracted other partners such as Agriculture Sector Development support program (ASDSP).

“As a county, we are blessed as we have Attracted Kenya Climate smart Agriculture, and agricultural sector development support program and many other partners all supporting agriculture and livestock in our county” said Kiyeng.

The project has supported 365 micro-projects supporting over 7,000 farmers, and seven (7) sub- projects at a tune of kshs. 134 million.

The key objective of this project is to increase productivity in four value chains which includes; Irish potato, tomato, dairy cow and indigenous chicken thus improving food security.
