Wildlife enthusiasts today joined staff from the Department of Cooperatives and Tourism to celebrate this year’s World Wildlife Day at Rimoi National Reserve.
Rimoi played host to staff from Eka Hotel and Standard Media Group, who partnered with the tourism department to mark the day.
This year’s theme is ‘Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet’.
Tourism CEC Robert Kangogo expressed gratitude to Eka Hotel for their collaboration and the donation of 10 dustbin pits, which, according to him, will help contain littering in the Reserve.
“On behalf of the department, I want to thank all our partners for their unwavering support and a special thanks to Eka Hotel for their generous donation of the dustbin pits. These will contribute to keeping the camp clean and free from litter,” he said.
It was also an entertaining afternoon for the visitors as zebras and giraffes gave them a spectacular sighting from the famous Tabar watchtower.
The event highlights the vital role that wildlife plays in our world and the need to protect these valuable resources for the benefit of both the environment and local communities.
Rimoi Game Reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, including giraffes, elephants, zebras, waterbucks, warthogs, and many more species.
