World Vision injects Sh.803.4 million to fund health projects in Elgeyo Marakwet

The County government hosted World Vision together with other development partners in launching two major health programs in the County.

The organization with the partners will inject Sh 803.4 millon to the two projects which will run for the next 10 years, addressing malnutrition and improving food security.

The projects: Realizing gender equality, attitude change and Transformative Systems (REACTS) alongside (Enhancing Nutrition Services to improve maternal and child health (ENRICH) will be running concurrently.

The event held at Iten Day secondary school was graced by HE. governor Wisely Rotich and attended by the agencies’ senior representative officials, County Commissioner John Korir and faith based leaders.

Notable dignitaries included Ms. Marie Bettings, World Vision (Canada), Dr. Asirat Dibaba, chief of Party (REACTS), Martha Nyang’aya, Nutrition International (NI), Bho Mudyahoto (Harvest Plus), Peter Nyarsok ( Anglican Development Services) and Ampath Chief of Party Mr Sylvester Kimaiyo.

During the occasion, Community health promoters together with public health staff showcased their activities to the participants. There were exhibition booths at the venue where attendees were taken through public health and nutrition sensitization exercise.

Addressing the event, governor Rotich commended the partners for the initiative saying it would go a long way in upscaling the health and food security in the region.

A host of Members of County Assembly MCAs led by majority leader Stephen Cheruiyot, CECs Edwin Seroney, (Agriculture), Monica Rotich Public Service Management and Thomas Maiyo, (Lands) County Secretary Paul Chemmuttut amongst other county staff were also in attendance.
