Vocational Training Centre Managers conclude Refresher Course in Iten

In an attempt to conform with the emerging market trends, the County government of Elgeyo Marakwet in partnership with Pratham International_ an Indian organization has rolled out training program targeting polytechnic instructors.

Pratham International works to enhance vocational training by moving away from traditional one-way instruction towards interactive learner centered teaching model.
The Enhanced Training Methodology for VTC trainers was intended to equip vocational educators with effective, interactive teaching methods through hands-on training.
The model incorporate digital resources and virtual training into the curriculum, explained Mr Samuel Kipchumba, the county director for Vocational Education and Training (VET).
The workshop focussing on enhancing training skills and methodologies brought on board at least a representation drawn from all the 17 Vocational Training Centres in the county.
Ms Purity Koima, the County Executive Committee CEC for Education and Vocational Training while closing the exercise appreciated the participants for their attendance.
Key areas of focus included: Effective content delivery, communication and technical skill, strengthening industrial linkages and integration of ICT and emerging trends in training .
Ms. Koima called on the participants to cascade the acquired skills to colleagues while embracing ICT to align with evolving industry needs.
She further encouraged students to enroll in VTCs and take advantage of opportunities such as the Tujiari programme, which equip graduates with startup kits to support self-employment and reliance.
Also in attendance were the chief officer Paul Ruto and chief youth training officer Jackton Ouko.
