South Africa’s Ashleigh Moolman shines in Road cycling, CAC Africa Cycling Championship.

South African Ashleigh Moolman won the Women Elite 104km cycling road race that was held along Eldoret- Iten circuit in Kenya today.
Eritrea’s Dawit Mengs won the women Under 23 cycling race.
The 2024 African Road Cycling Competition brought the sport to Elgeyo Marakwet attracting a lot of fans.
Area Governor H.E. Wisley Rotich who was present said :” It was a great privilege to witness the first ever cycling competition that brought together riders from around the continent,”
The Governor who congratulated the winners also commended Kenyan ladies led by Monica Jelimo, who emerged 14th, Tabu Masiga, and Grace Wairimu for taking positions 18 and 19th respectively in the crazy cycling race.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen graced the occasion that was also attended by Mr David Lappartient, President of the UCI.
Men’s cycling championship is expected to take place tomorrow Sunday.
In welcoming visitors to Iten, Town Elgeyo Marakwet, Governor Rotich said:” Karibuni sana Elgeyo Marakwet, where champions are either born or made,”
