It is that dry season of the year that is synonymous with wild fires resulting into massive environmental degradation.
The directorate of disaster management in Elgeyo Marakwet County is advising residents across the county to be vigilant and avoid recklessness with fire during this season.
Wild fires are ignited by farmers preparing their land or general recklessness with fire that end up being exacerbated by wind.
Mr. Simion Cheptot, the ministry of Environment director of meteorology in Elgeyo Marakwet County says the dry season that commenced in December will continue up to the end of March or the first week of April when long rains will be expected.
