NYOTA roll-out kicks off in Elgeyo Marakwet County…

The national rollout of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project has officially begun.

In Elgeyo Marakwet, Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek joined a team from the national government led by Mr. Samson Wangusi, Principal Administrative Secretary, National Treasury, for a sensitisation exercise at Iten.
The Deputy Governor urged the youth to take advantage and apply for funding.
“The programme aims at empowering our youth. I urge them to take the first step and apply for funding as soon as possible,” she said.
In Elgeyo Marakwet County, the NYOTA Program targets 1,400 youth beneficiaries, with 70 young people enlisted in each ward.
Those who previously who had previously submitted their applications are advised to await verification.
Successful applicants who meet the criteria will receive a grant of Sh.50,000 each to support their business start-ups.
Also present were Timothy Toroitich, Member of Parliament for Marakwet West, County Secretary, Mr Lazarus Chebii, County Executive Committee Members (CECs), Chief Officers (COs), Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), and officials from the National Government Administration.
The rollout follows a review indicating low participation numbers across various wards in the project’s components.
Consequently, the upcoming sensitization forums will comprehensively cover all aspects of the project as outlined in the presentations shared during the event.
All youth are encouraged to participate to ensure that each ward meets and surpasses its target.

Applicants must have a Form Four level of education or below.

Participants will undergo training under the NYOTA Program.

Upon completion, all trainees will be issued certificates of participation
