The Grandmothers displayed unmatched skills to dismiss Kipkenyo FC from Uasin Gishu by a solitary to emerge winners in the tournament that brought together 25 teams across five counties.
Fresh from an international outing in South Africa, the Mutei Grannies proved their international exposure through dribbles and long passes that gave them possession as their opponents desperately looked for an equaliser to no avail.
First Lady Mrs. Fiona Rotich, who graced the occasion, said the event was timely for promoting fitness and wellness among elderly women under the inspiring theme ‘Kick for Health’ at a time the society is fighting lifestyle diseases.
Grannies Federation President Mrs. Elizabeth Keitany congratulated the Mutei Grannies, who were crowned champions.
The Mutei Grannies also recently represented Kenya at the international tournament in South Africa.
Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek said the tournament said beyond the physical fitness, the tournament exposed women from the participating counties from Baringo, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega and Elgeyo Marakwet.
Present were County Assembly Speaker Mr. Lawi Kibire, CECs Michael Kibiwott and Purity Koima, and Chief Officers Lily Kimetto and Isaac Koech.
