The County Government today hosted a stakeholders dissemination consultative meeting on the National Government’s fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP).
The forum was presided over by Principal Secretary for Public Works, Joel Arumonyang, Deputy Governor Prof. Grace Cheserek and County Commissioner John Korir.
The PS said the Country was headed in the right direction economically owing to economic revival and transformation strategies laid by President William Ruto’s government.
He said the five pillars of the Government’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) will serve to accelerate the MTP IV mainly targeting majority vulnerable Kenyans.
Prof Cheserek on her part said Elgeyo Marakwet was a unique County that needed to be adequately resourced owing to its potential to contribute greatly to the agriculture pillar of BETA and subsequently the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Finance CEC Alphaeus Tanui, outlined the economic aspirations the County Government wants included in the MTP IV to accelerate economic growth in Elgeyo Marakwet.
County Commissioner, John Korir, noted that the MTP is a strategic driver moving the country into the achievement of the Country’s Vision 2030.
“If Vision 2030 was a journey from Iten to Nairobi, the past MTPs are the vehicles that have taken us upto Limuru. This Fourth MTP will take us to Nairobi,” said Korir.
The meeting held at KMTC Iten saw the attendees give their inputs and proposals on the economic transformation of the Country, largely dwelling on the agriculture sector, youth agenda, governance and security.

It was attended by various County stakeholders including elders, business community, teacher unions, CS Transport Representative Meshack Kiplagat, County Assembly Speaker Philemon Sabulei and a host of MCAs, CECs, Chief Officers, Members of Clergy, County and National government staff.
