Our initiative to establish tree nurseries in the County has recorded remarkable success.
With a group of 30 members benefiting from the project under Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program
One such inspiring example is the Green shield group in Kaptarakwa Ward.
Supported with Kshs. 500,000 grant to set up model tree nursery, the group have collectively earned an impressive Kshs. 15 million (Kshs. 7 million in 2023, Kshs. 2 million in 2024, and Kshs. 6.8 million in 2025) from selling tree seedlings.
This achievement not only generates income but also promotes environmental conservation and community resilience to climate change.
The project plays a vital role in reafforestation efforts, restoring degraded ecosystems, and promoting biodiversity. By focusing on sustainable land management practices, the project contributes to the overall well-being of the community and the environment.
The success of this project serves as a model for other communities to adopt similar initiatives, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.
By supporting tree nursery projects, the County government demonstrates its commitment to empowering communities to take charge of their environmental conservation and economic development.
