The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet, through the Department of Health Services, today joined the global community in commemorating World Cerebral Palsy Day 2026 under the theme “Unique and United.”
The county celebrations were held at Mindililwo Special School and were presided over by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services, Monicah Jeptum.
Speaking during the event, Ms. Jeptum noted that Elgeyo Marakwet has registered over 4,800 persons living with disabilities, and reaffirmed the county’s commitment to inclusive healthcare and support.
“Disability is not a barrier to dignity, opportunity, participation or the realization of one’s full potential. Every child and adult living with cerebral palsy deserves access to the support and opportunities necessary to live a dignified and fulfilling life,” she said.
The CECM further lauded families, caregivers, healthcare workers, teachers and other stakeholders whose dedication continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of persons living with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
“Together, we are unique. Together, we are united. Together, we leave no one behind,” she added.
