The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet has entered into a partnership with Morendat Institute of Oil & Gas (MIOG) to offer training to students from the county.
The partnership was signed by Governor Alex Tolgos and Morendat Institute Centre Director Dr. Jonah Aiyabei at the Governor’s office.
In the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is aimed at training students from Elgeyo Marakwet on a variety of courses to be conducted at Kenya Pipeline’s Morendat training college and Technical and Vocational Training colleges in the County.
MIOG, an organ of Kenya Pipeline Company offers training on Oil & Gas related and Technical Courses.
Governor Tolgos welcomed the partnership saying the county would ensure that its Vocational Training Centres would be equipped to standards in order to offer quality training.
He said: “We welcome such partnerships which will ensure that the youth in far flung areas of our county can access training through our 14 Vocational Training Colleges.”
The Foundation will also collaborate with the county in improving Kapsowar Health Centre in Marakwet West.
Present were Michael Sengech, who represented County Secretary Paul Chemutut and County Executive Members, Isaack Kamar and Abraham Barsosio. Chief Officer Lorna Kipsang, Legal advisor Janet Jeruto, Economic Advisor Donald Cheserem among other staff.
