A strong has been selected to represent Elgeyo Marakwet County in the 8th edition of Kenya Youth Inter-Counties Sports Association’s (KYISA).
A provisional squad of 25 men and 17 ladies will commence residential training at Iten ahead of the games to be held in Tharaka Nithi County as from 23rd to 30th of this Month.
The youth between 18 and 23 years were selected from a pool of players from 13 Wards by a team of coaches.
Sports, Youth and Gender Chief Executive Committee Member Purity Koima asked the team to focus on training for a positive result in the outing.
“This is also an opportunity to explore your potential in football. I expect a gold from you. Go our there and make us proud,” she said to the team.
Players braved the cold Iten afternoon weather and light showers to impress the coaches who trained their eyes on every detail of players skills as they took notes and conversed frequently.
Elgeyo Marakwet is famed for athletics but if the skills displayed by the players at Iten is anything to go by, the County is headed to be a soccer powerhouse.
