The Department of Water, Environment, and Climate Change in Elgeyo Marakwet County held an inception meeting with the World Resources Institute a global research organization focused on environmental issues, sustainable development, and climate change.
The meeting marks a significant step towards developing a Elgeyo Marakwet Forest and Landscape Restoration Policy aiming at protecting the Spencer line.
This collaboration is part of the county’s commitment to growing 60 million trees in five years, contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment.
WRI’s expertise in forest and landscape restoration will be instrumental in shaping the county’s policies and strategies.
In attendance included;Department of Kenya Meteorological services, department of lands and physical planning, department of National environment management authority, Kenya Forest service, Department of Agriculture and livestock and Kenya Forestry research institute.
