Governor Wisley Rotich on Thursday commissioned a maternity wing at Chebiemit Sub-county hospital constructed in partnership with the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SUOMI Finland), consisting of an 8 bed prenatal and antenatal wards.
Other areas include equipped delivery area, new born incubators, phototherapy machine which will be used to treat skin conditions and jaundice in newborns.
The facility is also equipped with Electro Cardiogram, which will be used to monitor heart condition and sterile wave, a modern and environmental waste disposal machine which will crash waste products.
The unit also has 40,000 litre water tanks, which will ensure that there will be a continued and consistent supply of water.
Present were Erastus Karani, Nelson Kariuki, Teresiah Kinyaga from the Ministry of Health, and Lukas Landerl, Duncan Kemboi from Vameed.
Others were CEC Monicah Rotich, COs Jeremy Chirchir, Caroline Magut, Chebiemit Medsup Prisca Kibet and Dr.Lawrence Kogos, among other county staff.
