The Governor H.E. Wisley Rotich on Thursday hosted officials from the National Environment Trust Fund(NETFUND) who paid a courtesy call to his Iten Town offices.
NETFUND Chief executive officer Samson Toniok said his agency was collaborating with regional governments towards the restoration of Cherangany ecosystem to support sustainable livelihood through an introduced Italian Government initiative.
According to the Governor, the program is 4M Euros program which will be implemented in Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot Counties targeting to protect and rehabilitate 92,000 hectares of degraded Cherangany Forest Ecosystem.
In addition, this will also promote sustainable land management practices and provide support on sustainable livelihoods and nature-based enterprises for communities living along the forests.
The program will be implemented for a period of four years. It will also support farmer cooperatives and also boost our wealth creation program.
The launch and public sensitization will be happening in a few weeks time.
