Cabinet Secretary Wildlife and Tourism Hon. Rebecca Miano has announced that the National Government will inject finance to fence off the sanctuary.

This is in addition to other infrastructural development lined up for the park to make it attractive for both local and foreign tourists.
Miano was speaking in Rimoi during the National commemoration of the World Wildlife Day, following a request H.E Governor Wisley Rotich made to the Ministry for Elgeyo Marakwet County to host the event.
“I remember when we were in Homa Bay, your Governor approached me and requested we bring this event here. Because he is a hardworking Governor and means well for his people, we found it easy to approve the request,” said the Minister.
The CS further came with goodies with compensation cheques for 74 victims of human-wildlife conflict in a compensation package worth Ksh 21Million for Elgeyo Marakwet.
She added that another 261 victims would receive their compensation before June, 2026.

Her Ministry also donated 12 water tanks to local primary schools for water harvesting.
