Sports CEC Michael Kibiwott today hosted Peace Ambassador Tegla Loroupe and her entourage who are on a 840 KM peace run from Kakuma to Nairobi to promote peace in the Country.
The initiative, _Peace through Sports_ , is spearheaded by the Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation and includes local athletes as well as a refugee athletics team.
The initiative seeks to sensitise Kenyans on the need to maintain peace citing statistics that show that 65% of the World’s refugees are from Africa as a result of war in the continent.
Loroupe lauded Elgeyo Marakwet Governor H.E Wisley Rotich for supporting peace in the North Rift region saying his efforts have had a ripple effect on neighbouring counties.
