The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet together with REACTS-IN consortium today, flagged off 24,000 kilograms of Iron rich beans(nyota) to be distributed to farmers across the County for planting during the long rains season.
The program targets 10,000 households, 300 community health promoters, and 300 lead farmers.
The project aims to improve health and nutrition of women, adolescent girls, and children under five years, while equally addressing gender inequality and promoting nutrition-related rights.
REACTS-IN is a collaborative effort involving organizations, which include World Vision, Nutrition International, ADS, Kalro, and others.
The activity was led by the County Secretary Mr Lazarus Chebii.
Present were Dr. Penina Muoki- focal person REACTS-IN, CECMs Edwin Kibor – Agriculture, Monica Rotich – Health, Joseph Anyango-Nutrition International,
Lamech Okello-World Vision Kenya among other partners and County Staff.
