The Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP2) is driving significant improvements in our county’s informal settlements, supported by the World Bank.
During a site visit and supervision to Cheptongei and Chebiemit, Mr. Josphat Kerich, the County Coordinator KISIP II, commended the initiative for enhancing livelihoods and creating an environment that fosters economic growth.
Current works include upgrading roads and footpaths to tarmac, installing drainage systems, and setting up street lighting to improve security and living conditions.
Key projects include a 2.084-kilometer tarmac road and two high-mast floodlights in Cheptongei, as well as a 1.461-kilometer road and two high-mast lights in Chebiemit.
Additionally, modern markets in both areas are expected to be completed by early January, which will stimulate trade and strengthen the local economy.
“These efforts will transform lives and break the cycle of poverty,” Kerich stated.
