Residents of Kapyego welcomed President William Ruto to Elgeyo Marakwet, praising his government’s efforts to restore peace in the Kerio Valley, once plagued by insecurity.

Wananchi in Kapyego sang songs of praise, celebrating the peace now experienced across the region.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen said the Kenya Kwanza administration has restored peace and security in Kerio Valley and is now rolling out an economic masterplan to open up the region and create opportunities for locals.
In Elgeyo Marakwet County, the Ruto administration is constructing 550km of roads, nine modern markets, 3,000 affordable housing units and 2,500 student hostel units.
The government is also connecting 9,000 households to electricity, expanding water supply, improving access to universal healthcare, and upgrading sports facilities.
The President commissioned the 30km Kipkundul-Kapyego-Kamelei Road and laid the foundation stone for the 200-stall Kapyego Modern Market.

He also flagged off the Marakwet East Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme, and launched Phase I of the Kapyego Water Supply Project.
