Cherangany Marakwet Water and Sanitation Company [CHEMAWASCO] has today ushered in New Managing Director Mr. Noah Kemboi as its new Managing Director, ending a period of acting leadership at the utility.
The handing over is expected to provide stable leadership as the company expands service delivery in Marakwet West and East Sub-Counties.
Serving residents of Kapsowar and Kapcherop towns, CHEMAWASCO Ltd has recorded significant growth in the last two years in line with Governor Wisely Rotich’s agenda to bring clean water closer to households.
Since its establishment in 2017, the company has scaled up its last mile network.
Households connected have risen from 910 in 2023 to 1,300 currently.
The company maintains a daily production capacity of 21,000 litres of clean and safe domestic water.
Infrastructure improvements are also underway at a cost of Ksh 31 million, funded by the North Rift Water Works Development Agency. County officials say the project is now 70% complete.
Plans are also at an advanced stage for the Kamoi/Kapterit Water Project in Sengwer Ward.
In addition, the Chebiemit Water Project is set for revival at a cost of Ksh 25 million.
The investments are aimed at expanding access to clean and safe water and reducing the distance residents walk to fetch water.
“We are committed to ensuring every household in Elgeyo Marakwet has access to clean water at their doorstep,” Dr. Felix Rotich said.
With the new MD now in place, CHEMAWASCO is expected to fast-track pending projects and improve service delivery to more customers across Marakwet West.
