Elgeyo Marakwet County Liquor Enforcement Notice

The Elgeyo Marakwet County Alcoholic Drinks Control Committee has ordered strict compliance from all liquor outlets and distributors.

‎In the notice ,Outlets without a 2026 liquor licence, Single Business Permit, or Public Health Clearance must shut down immediately.

‎Premises without proper sanitation or repairs, those within 300m of schools, or selling to minors must close.

‎Sale of changaa, second-generation alcohol, and bhang is prohibited and will lead to arrest, licence revocation, and prosecution. Bhang offences carry up to 10 years in jail.

‎Additionally, all outlets must follow the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution and licence conditions.

‎Police, Sub-county Committees, and Interior teams have been instructed to enforce closure, arrests, and penalties for non-compliance.

‎Compliance is mandatory, and violations will attract prosecution, suspension, or licence revocation.
