The County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee appointed by Governor Wisely Rotich were today inaugurated by the County Attorney, witnessed by the County Secretary.
Dr. Richard Chepkawai from Marakwet West has been appointed as the chairman, alongside members Viola Toroirich (Marakwet East), Robert Kipkorir (Keiyo North), and Nancy Sawe (Keiyo South). Other members include CECM Land & Urban Development Thomas Maiyo and Chief Officer Emmanuel Birir.
The committee’s key responsibilities will include assessing the housing situation, identifying gaps in affordable housing, and collaborating with government agencies, developers, and stakeholders to implement housing programs. As per the Affordable Housing Act, 2024, the committee will also develop a framework for affordable housing, advise the Governor, and oversee the implementation of affordable housing projects.
