The Elgeyo Marakwet County Government, in partnership with World Resources Institute (WRI), has commenced the drafting of the Forest and Landscape Restoration Policy (FALRP) draft. The policy aims to restore degraded landscapes, enhance community livelihoods, and reduce disaster risks.
The policy will addresses key climate-related issues, including landslides, floods, drought, and soil erosion, exacerbated by deforestation and unsustainable land use practices.
Starting today, we will be sharing the policy draft, including its objectives, strategies, and expected outcomes.
The policy aligns with national and international frameworks, including Kenya Vision 2030 and the National Forest Policy.
