The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet will be conducting weekly routine sensitization exercise to promote revenue collection across the County.
Mr Alphaeus Tanui, the County Finance and Economic Planning minister said his department will carry out citizen engagement activities to ensure Wananchi are in compliance with their expectations.
According to Mr Tanui, Iten Municipality is expected to record significant improvement by December when the newly established Market is expected to be operationalised.
The project is 95 percent complete and it is going to accommodate over 200 traders, Mr Tanui said.
“Upon the operationalization of the new Market, there will be better working conditions for traders and this will also go a long way in creating employment,” says former Municipality Manager Raymond Omonei.
Mr Tanui however said the routine public sensitizations will be carried out every Wednesday from next week and will not only cover Iten Town but will be extended across all the Four sub Counties.
The CEC was addressing a boardroom meeting held at the Governor’s Iten offices and attended by the Directorate of Revenue director Mr Solomon Kandie alongside all the sub county Revenue officials.
County Executive Committee Members for Public Service Management (PSM) Edwin Seronei, Purity Koima (Education) and Michael Kibiwott (Sports) together with Chief Officers Peter Chesos, Lilly Kimetto, Daniel Kimutai and Jeremy Chirchir were also in attendance.
