Iten Vocational Training Centre holds skills Exhibition Day

Iten Vocational Training Centre today held its inaugural Skills Exhibition Day, under the theme “Unlocking the Potential of the Youth through Hands-On and Career Skills for a Changing World.”

The event showcased the diverse range of technical and vocational programs offered at the institution, including: Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical Works, Garment Making and Fashion Design, Food Processing and Service, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Masonry, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Welding and Fabrication and plumbing.
Chief Officer Mr. Paul Rutto who graced the occasion encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies.
“Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) play a vital role in empowering young people with practical skills, enhancing self-employment, and contributing to local economic development,” the CO said.
Centre Manager Mark Kiplimo expressed his appreciation to all participants and announced that the Skills Exhibition was going to be an annual event.
Guest speakers included a local young entrepreneur Daniel Rutto of DSquare fashions and Micah Lagat the deputy Principal – Kipsoen Technical Training Institute TTI.
The County Government currently operates 18 fully functional Vocational Training Centres across the county.
Through the Tujiari Program, a partnership between the County Government and KCB Bank, students receive full scholarships and upon completion of their training, are provided with start-up toolkits to help them establish their own businesses.
