Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development had the honor of hosting a team from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters for a technical review meeting on the Digital Land Governance Programme (DGLP).
The meeting focused on reviewing progress made under various initiatives implemented through the DGLP, including:
1).Capacity building for technical officers
2).Equipping and operationalizing the GIS lab
3).Preparation of Iten Municipality bylaws
4).Community land inventory, sensitization, application for recognition and registration, and initiation of adjudication processes
5).Development of the County Physical and Land Use Development Plan
The FAO delegation, led by Kaari Mirithi, expressed satisfaction with the strides the department has made in rolling out the DGLP.
Following the meeting, the team proceeded to Endo for a community engagement session to further discuss the program and its impact on local communities.
In attendance were the CECM Lands Mr. Thomas Maiyo, Chief Officer Emmanuel Birir, a representative from the National Land Commission (NLC), the Municipal Manager, and other county technical officers.
