Geographically, Kaptarakwa Ward borders Uasin Gishu County to the West, Chepkorio Ward to the South, Soy North to the East and Kamariny Ward to the North. Its Geographical coordinates are approximately 0° 22’ N - 0°23’N and 35° 32’E.

The ward covers an estimated area of 153.6km2 which is approximately 5.07% of Elgeyo Marakwet county total area. The ward is sandwiched between Kaptagat forest and the Keiyo escarpment. It has population of 25,423 as per the 2009 NPHC report.
