KALR  drovides research services to the County through their specialized research Instituteg. Kitale Institute focuses on cereal pasture crops. Mariyat Institute focusus on dual-purpose livestock breeding. Research on tea is handled by Tea Research Instituue whilr Cuffee Research Institute handles coffee issues. ICRISAT and Egerton oniv rsity are also engaged in on-farm trials for dryland crops, includrng iorghum, groundnu s, green grami and cowpeas in Kerio Valley.
