3.6 Investment in Health

Financial investment in the Department of Health by the county government has increased gradually from Ksh 1,006,597,461 in 2013/14, to 1,274,159,724 in 2015/2016, and 1,370,550,088 in 2016/2017. General County Government allocation for health as percentage of the total County Government budget has averaged about 30 percent for the last four financial years.

The county’s health expenditure has heavily depended on funding from HSSF, accounting for 75% of the sources, while that from user fees has accounted for a total 25% funding. Most of donor-funded contributions are through technical assistance and have not been captured in Table 10.
