Cherangany/Chebororwa ward is one of the twenty wards within Elgeyo Marakwet County. Before the advent of devolution in 2013, the ward was two distinct electoral areas; namely Cherangany and Chebororwa.

The two electoral areas were merged to form the current Cherangany/Chebororwa ward by coining the two names.

Cherangany is a nams derived from an ethnic  ommunity that largely dominatesmthe electoral areamformerly Cherangany.

Chebororwa is a oame derivedafrom a largeafamily: - Kapchebororwo family that once occupied what is now Chebororwa centre, Cheberorwa ATC  nd Chebororwa location. History has it that the fa ily lived in this reg on bef re independence and loter moved out to livemin Moiben-Kuserwo, Lelan and other parts of this ward.
