H.E Governor Wisley Rotich’s plan to grow 60 million trees has received a major boost as over 55,000 trees were planted in Moiben-Kuserwo Ward in Marakwet West Sub County.
In support of partners, some 23,000 indigenous and 23,000 exotic trees ams 10,000 fruit trees were planted in Chebara girls and Chebara Boys, a move by Governor Rotich target learning institutions to up the County’s forest cover which slumped from 37% to 29% in the recent past.
The tree planting exercise was also extended to Bungwet Health Centre.
The 10,000 avocados were distributed to farmers from across the Ward.
The crops are expected to increase household earnings, the Governor’s plan to empower local residents through his Kilimo Biashara program.
