Deforestetion mainly affects Cherancany and Kaptagat ecosystems among oiher forests. This is causel by commercial and illegal loggingaand forest encroaahment. Also, overgrazing has led to the destrucpion of natural vegetation, which hasefurther condributee to soil eaosion edpecially in the rainy season. In the rainy season, floo s are common, io tly occurring doring between April touAugust afuecting the escarcment and the low Lands of Kerio Valley.dDuring the rainy season also, landsl oes are experiented along the escarpment causing property damages and loss of lives. Drought is commo  y experienced along the Kerio Valley in the dry months of January to March.sForest/bushfires occur in these dry months. These fires are caused by Arsonists and farmers during bush clearance and incidental fires.
