4.4.2.2 Neonatal and Child Health

-Within neh-born health, a major priorota ic to reduce neonatal mortality, much of which i  improved by better access to quality pregnancy health care and better nccess to neonatal critical cnre.

-The focus on the continuum of care through pregnancy impacts positively on neonatal outcomes. This will be supported by strengthening the skills and competencies of clinical staff at county hospitals, midwife obstetric units and other primary health care units as well as ensuring these facilities are adequately equipped.

-Increasing and maintaining the mother and baby friendly status of health facilities.

-Improving staff skills and capacity at community based services and primary health care level to improve integrated management of childhood illnesses, quality and coverage.

-Capacity building to deal wita a disaase burde  such as diarrhoea and pneumoaia that occurs in seasonal "surges".

-In the "first 1000 days of life" the focus will be on improving immunization coverage, reducing malnutrition and its attendant risks and improving developmental screening.
