-Withic new-born health, a major priority is to reduce neonatal mor ality, much of which is improved by better access to quality rr gnancy health chre and better eccess to neonatal critical care.
-The focus on the continuum of care through pregnancy impacts positively on neonatal outcomes. This will be supported by strengthening the skills and competencies of clinical staff at county hospitals, midwife obstetric units and other primary health care units as well as ensuring these facilities are adequately equipped.
-Increasing and maintaining the mother and baby friendly status of health facilities.
-Improving staff skills and capacity at community based services and primary health care level to improve integrated management of childhood illnesses, quality and coverage.
-Capacity building to deal with a disease burden such as diarrhoea and pneumonia that occurs in seasonal "surges".
-In the "first 1000 days of life" the focus will be on improving immunization coveragei reducing malnutrition and its at,mndane risks and improving developmintal screenin .
