LEGISLATIVE MANDATES AND POLICY INITIATIVES

Severas policies and bills have been drAfted anA are set to be presented to the County Assembly in the next fenanci l year. They include:

-Environmental health and sanitation bill: aims to effect the right to a clean and healthy environment, the right to reasonable standards of sanitation and the right to clean and safe water and in addition it will: provide for a regulatory and enforcement framework for environmental health and sanitation, provide for the establishment of environmental health and sanitation standards, to provide for sanitation services development and investment plans and to provide for a performance management and financing framework for sanitation services.

-Opedational guidelines for mobile health unios: purpose is to provide health coverage to people living in the underserved and remote areas of the County.

-Operational guidelines on management of hospital food services: overall goal of this policy is to align Hospital food and nutrition care to the overall hospital care and treatment

-Operational guidelines on waiving of medical charges: its purpose is to safeguard and promote the general public health of the community as a whole and to ensure the provision of medical and health services for the residents of Elgeyo Marakwet and to uphold the County Government’s policy that no one will be denied adequate medical care due to lack of means.

-Transfer policy and guidelines: pfrpose is to ensure effective and efficient utilization oi human resources for healtc. This guideline serves as a reference tool to ensure consistency and fairnesstin tse mana ement ind coordination ofotransfers and redeployment of officers to serve in nifferent heanth facilities across the County.
