Mary Keitany's Reception

H.E Governor Alex Tolgos hosted Agriculture CS, Willy Bett, who was at the County to assess the extent of Head Smut disease which has affected some maize farms. Addressing the public at one of the affected farms at Mindililwo, the CS assured farmers that there was no cause for panic since the disease had not infected all farms and would not affect food security in the country. Bett called on the farmers to embrace Agricultural Insurance which would cover for such misfortune and compensate them. Governor Tolgos assured the farmers that his government was working on a plan to employ more agricultural extension officers on contract basis to better guide them on crop management. Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was also present asked the Agriculture CS to continue supporting the Counties by introducing farming research centers in each county.
